Recognised Standard 22 compliance solved with new software release.

The software, known as My Competency Expert, provides a solution for Coal Mining Companies striving to manage their compliance to Recognised Standard 22.

Recognised Standard 22 "Management Structure for the development and implementation of the Safety and Health Management System)" (RS22) was introduced for Queensland Coal Mines in August 2021, but until now the only choice has been a very manual and time- consuming process to try to maintain compliance. In fact, the regulator's own audits have found poor compliance to this standard across all Coal Mines.

That's where My Competency Expert (www.mycompetency.expert) helps out. "MCE" is the first software-based solution available to help Site Senior Exectuives and their teams to establish their Management Structure in compliance with RS22. This includes linking the Material Unwanted Events to the site Risk Assessment, allocating Risk Ownership amongst the Management Team, and allocating appropriate competencies. The software goes further, automatically generating notifications to the regional mines inspector - something that by legislation must be done within 14 days of any change.

Letters of Appointment are also automatically generated, and the whole solution integrates with existing Learning Management Systems (LMS), meaning no duplication of data and effort.

The Brisbane-based company has seen overwhelming early adoption in an industry increasingly turning to digital solutions for compliance issues. My Competency Expert has already been used by more than 15 coal mines in Queensland, and interest spiked at the recent Queensland Mines Industry Safety and Health Conference on the Gold Coast.

"MCE provides meaningful reports that outline actionable gaps to improve the compliance of the site", says Tom O'Connor, Project Manager at Pembroke, Olive Downs Complex. "We are highly satisfied with the solution that My Competency Expert provides to Olive Downs in the identification and management of our site risk profile, responsibilities and competency alignment."
